The original idea of creating a free movement entertainment company came when Mikey Cho, from Turbo fame, and his younger brother, David "minor" Whang, saw that new talent faced many obstacles in reaching mass audiences.  Soon thereafter, the Downground Entertainment company (DGE) was formed.  DGE recognized that there was talent everywhere, but that very few artists were lucky enough or had access to have their art recognized in a larger scope.  Record labels and companies would never have a chance to see/hear amazing talent at the ground level.  Enter Downground Entertainment.

The Downground Entertainment Group does not charge its artists nor does it "lock" in new artists to contracts.  DGE was simply envisioned to help new talent and artists to get signed and to provide counsel for its artists when the opportunity does arrive.  Funding comes from within and compensation for the company occurs in the form of small introductory fees that are charged to record labels or companies looking to sign our artists.  Artists are never forced NOT to sign with a company if fees are not agreed upon (as no contracts are signed), but rather, we ask that the individual artist make his/her own decision whether to sign with a company that will not pay such a small fee for acquiring such talent.

DGE strives to develop talent through in-house training and collaboration.  At times, top talent will be chosen to be featured on albums, videos, and other works.  In some rare instances, a proven talent would ask to use one of our artists' beats or vocals for their work.  DGE commits itself to creating an atmosphere where its artists have full reign and control over their futures while receiving support and advice and also together growing the company into a family community.
